Desperate appeal to trace Scots pensioner after 'extensive searches' fail to find him

Concerns are growing for a missing Scots pensioner after "extensive enquiries" by police to trace him.

Stewart Downie was last seen in the Shielhill Road area of Kirriemuir in Angus at roughly 12.30pm on Thursday, 13 April.

The 73-year-old is described as white, around 5ft6in tall, of medium build, who is balding, with short, grey hair.

At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black hooded jacket with a grey fleece lining, black jumper, dark blue jeans and dark boots. His right arm is in a plaster cast and he was carrying a plastic bag.

Despite significant search efforts, police have been unable to trace Stewart and are urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to get in touch.

Sergeant Iain Lesslie said: “Stewart’s family is understandably concerned for his welfare and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen him or who has any information or knowledge as to his whereabouts to contact police immediately.”

Anyone who many have seen Stewart should call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1836 of April 13, 2023.
