Designer Profile: Megan Evans

Megan Evans

Megan Evans Interiors maintains an extensive design library which allows the team to provide clients with the opportunity to collaborate through every step of the design process.

The goal is to produce a sophisticated but approachable environment in every project, all while considering each client’s lifestyle and personality. All design details are planned with the client in mind, and furnishings are selected for their beauty, functionality, and scale.

Megan and her team travel throughout the year to source one-of-a-kind accessories, antiques, and lighting for their projects. Here, we look into Megan's interior design career, aesthetic and projects.

As founder and principal designer of Megan Evans Interiors, based in Covington, LA, Megan marries sophistication with a splash of California cool, and sweet Southern charm in her spaces.

She loves to create homes for her clients to live in and enjoy for years to come while layering color and texture, with a sense of warmth and approachability. When working on a project, all design details are planned with the client in mind, and furnishings are selected for their beauty, functionality, and scale.

What is your design aesthetic?

'I truly strive for a highly personalized design for each client. I love layering color, pattern, and texture, but at the end of the day, the project needs to be a reflection of the homeowner. Ultimately, the end result is sophisticated but comfortable.'

'Many of our clients are families with young children and pets, and we always try to be mindful of this when selecting furnishings and finishes. Nothing can be too precious, but we also want pieces that are timeless. We incorporate antiques and vintage pieces wherever we can.'

How did it all begin?

'After attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles, I began my career at the Donghia showroom in the Pacific Design Center. After working in the luxury home furnishings market for 10 years, I started my own design business in 2019.'

What kind of work does your firm do?

'Our team focuses on residential interior design, including new builds and renovations. We have recently completed a renovation and addition of a historic home built in 1910, a New Orleans Garden District restoration of a Henry Howard mansion, and a multi-generational hunting ranch in South Texas.'

Who inspired you when you started, who inspires you now?

'I have always loved Mary McDonald and Kelly Wearstler. Both have such a defined style and are incredibly dynamic. They still inspire me today, in addition to many other female design icons such as Dorothy Draper, Nancy Lancaster, Alexa Hampton, Charlotte Moss, Alessandra Branca, Celerie Kemble, and Cathy Kincaid.'

Who are your dream clients?

'The ideal dream client is one who trusts you and truly values your time and input! They respect you as a professional in your field and allow you to guide their design journey. A dream client isn’t afraid to take a risk, is open minded, and can make a decision. Thankfully, we have had the pleasure of working with many!'

What's next?

'We are looking forward to a couple of new builds, a mid-century modern renovation, and continuing work with existing clients on several historic homes in New Orleans.'
