Designer outlet supports cancer charity

Livingston Designer Outlet has teamed up with its official charity partner, Cancer Research UK, to launch a donation station pop-up.

The outlet is urging its shoppers to kick-off 2022 by clearing out unwanted clothes, shoes and accessories and donating them in return for a 10 per cent off voucher which can be redeemed in February within participating stores in the outlet.

Items can be dropped off to guest services on the lower mall where they will be stored before being collected by volunteers and distributed to Cancer Research UK shops.

The initiative will be running from now until February 28.

Cancer Research UK runs 77 shops and four superstores across Scotland. The charity relies on donations from the public to help generate vital funds to support its life-saving work.

Kylie Wilson, marketing manager at Livingston Designer Outlet said: “As our newest charity partner we want to do all that we can to actively support the charity and are delighted to launch the new donation station.

“Now is the perfect time to have a clear out for a great cause! We all have things at home that we’ve outgrown or no longer have a need for and hopefully the convenient drop-off location will encourage our very generous guests to donate!

“The funds raised throughout Cancer Research stores is invaluable here in Scotland and the success depends on great quality donations so please think about donating for a cause very close to all of our hearts.”

Carrie Lennon, Cancer Research UK fundraising spokesperson for West Lothian, added: “This Donation Station is a fantastic initiative. We can’t thank the Livingston Designer Outlet staff and customers enough for playing their part in helping to beat cancer.

“Cancer survival in the UK has doubled since the early 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress. However, we have only been able to achieve this thanks to the dedication and generosity of supporters and local partners like the Livingston Designer Outlet, without whom we would not be able to fund outstanding scientists, doctors and nurses. One in two of us will get cancer in our lifetime*. All of us can support the research that will beat it.”

Livingston Designer Outlet is planning a full calendar of fundraising events and activities to help support the charity throughout 2022 and more will soon be revealed for in centre activity for World Cancer Day on February 4.
