The Cleveland Browns opened up the voluntary workout portion of the offseason on Tuesday. As was widely expected, quarterback Baker Mayfield was not among the players in attendance at the team headquarters in Berea.
Mayfield’s replacement at quarterback, Deshaun Watson was in the building for the optional workouts. Since the Browns made the heavy investment in Watson and paid him a fully guaranteed $230 million contract, Mayfield’s future with the team has effectively ended. The Browns’ starter for the last four seasons is seeking a trade and made his dissatisfaction clear in a recent podcast appearance.
The Browns have been unable to find an immediate taker for Mayfield in a trade.
