Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot netted his first goal of the season, heading the Reds into a deserved half-time lead against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League at Old Trafford on Thursday evening.
Having struggled to break down a wall of yellow shirts for much of the first half, Dalot connected with Christian Eriksen's corner to nod past Sheriff goalkeeper Maksym Koval and head the Reds into a 44th-minute lead. Erik ten Hag's side had dominated the first half and had gone close to breaking the deadlock on numerous occasions, with the best chance having fallen Cristiano Ronaldo's way.
Nevertheless, Dalot found himself in the right place at the right time, glancing Eriksen's excellent delivery home. It was a brilliant header from the Portuguese international, who has been an ever-present figure for the Reds this season.
