Derry residents group 'excited' to see phase two plans for Creggan Burn Park

Residents in Derry are being asked to give their views on the future development of a Derry park in a public consultation.

Derry City and Strabane District Council is calling on residents of the Glen area of the city to give their views on the future development of Creggan Burn Park.

Working in partnership with the Glen Development Initiative (GDI), proposals for the site include an upgrade of the zig-zag steps, better greenway connectivity, additional lighting, tree planting and a new community centre within the park.

Adrian Kelly, Glen Development Initiative, said: "We are excited to see the progress on the second stage of the redevelopment of Creggan Burn Park.

"I would like to encourage local residents to take time to give their feedback on these plans. An additional consultation will take place on the new community and youth development in the following weeks."

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Sandra Duffy, encouraged residents to have their say on the proposals so they can best serve their needs.

“The latest proposals will significantly enhance the park’s offering and make it more user friendly which is why it is so important that people give their views on the proposals so they can be tailored to meet their needs.”

People living in the surrounding area have received a letter inviting them to view the proposed plans at Glen Community Centre or online HERE.

The public are being asked to give their feedback by Monday, August 15 to enable officers to put together an engagement report which will be presented to Council’s Environment and Regeneration Committee.
