Jockey Jody McGarvey had an eventful time at Naas today as he was kicked by his Horse before a race.
The Derry native was due to ride Emotional Damage in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle when, moments before the race, she tried to inflict some physical damage to McGarvey.
Footage appeared to show the horse rear up and kick out at McGarvey who was seemingly attempting to mount her ahead of the race. The blow struck his calf and he immediately reeled away and looked in some considerable discomfort.

Thankfully though the damage was minor and McGarvey was able to ride the Gordon Elliot trained Mare to a ninth placed finish in the race.
It was a busy day for McGarvey as earlier he'd ridden Milk Market to a 12th place finish in The Naas Racecourse Business Club Maiden Hurdle for trainer Padraig Roche.
