Derry incident sees car window smashed with wheel brace after 'verbal altercation'

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, common assault, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place after a car window was smashed.

The incident took place on Derry's Duncreggan Road during the early hours of today, Wednesday, August 24, at around 1.10am.

A verbal altercation between a man and a woman is reported to have occurred just before a wheel brace was reportedly used to smash the rear window of a silver Volkswagen Golf.

The 25-year-old man who was arrested remains in police custody at this time.

Sergeant Garth Bennett is appealing for witnesses, in particular, anyone who captured the incident on their dash cam.
