Derry Girls series 3 cast as return of Channel 4 show delights fans

Derry Girls is back on Tuesday night, much to the delight of fans who've been counting down the days to the start of the new series.

Ever since its first episode went out in January 2018, 90s set Derry Girls earned itself a place in the hearts of many viewers across the UK and Ireland, with millions immediately invested by the antics of Irish teens Erin, Orla, Michelle and Clare and Michelle's English cousin James, who became the first ever male pupil Our Lady Immaculate College, quickly causing a stir.

Memorable episodes to date have included one which saw the death of 98-year-old Sister Declan while she's meant to be overseeing the teens' detention, a second in which the friends set fire to fish and chip matriarch Fionnuala's flat and another when then US president Bill Clinton came to town.

Other highlights have included the girls and James' handling of an exchange programme involving teenagers from Ukraine and a prom themed episode, which saw Erin arrive downstairs to greet her date to the sounds of underrated 90s anthem Independent Love Song by Scarlet.

After a few years away from screens and a delay in series 3 production due to the coronavirus pandemic, Derry Girls will make its comeback on Channel 4 on Tuesday night at 9.15pm, right after the latest instalment of Bake Off. And the cast for the new series is as follows:
