Derry girl to the rescue as newly-engaged couple find their special moment recorded online

A Derry woman says she feels "famous" after coming to the rescue for a newly-engaged couple in Dublin.

Eden, from the city, was quick to grab her mum's phone to record it when Holly Fogarty's partner Ricky decided to get down on one knee during the interval of Les Miserable on Thursday, February 10.

Struggling to regain her composure, Ms Fogarty gave Eden the wrong number, leading to her put a call out online.

Against the odds, Eden reached out to her to send her the video of the special moment.

Speaking to Dublin Live, the Derry girl said she was surprised to see the story had gone so viral.

"I might as well be famous," she told Dublin Live.

"[Holly] posted it in a few theatre groups, then London Musical Theatre shared a post and a friend of my mum's had tagged me in it.

I looked at it and thought "What the hell is this?". I looked Holly up and messaged her."

She added: "I was so disappointed whenever I realised there was a digit short. I sort of figured because I'm from Derry that there was no hope in hell that I'd ever find her."

Describing the proposal, before finding Eden online, Holly said: "We were both standing there, he was just talking to me and then he grabbed both my hands and looked at me and I thought, 'No way'.

"It was kind of like the whole place didn't really exist for five whole seconds. It just went dead silent. I said yes and we just heard everyone cheering and clapping."
