Celtics guard Derrick White is the most beloved individual in the city of Boston right about now.
With the Celtics’ season on the line, White came up with one of the most clutch plays of the postseason, corralling a rebound and converting on a perfectly-timed putback following a missed game-winning field goal attempt from Marcus Smart.
Amid all the hoopla surrounding White’s buzzer beater, no one was happier for the 28-year-old than his father.
Richard White took to Twitter with the perfect reaction in the aftermath of his son’s game-winning shot, writing a four-word tweet that accurately summed up his emotions.
Omg that’s my boy

White’s last-second putback gave the Celtics a 104–103 win just after Jimmy Butler had hit three free throw attempts to give Miami a one-point lead.
White ended the night with 11 points, six assists, one steal, and three blocks, coming up big for Boston on both ends of the floor. No moment was bigger than his putback layup, however, keeping the Celtics’ campaign going with the team’s back against the wall.
White’s father was clearly overjoyed in the aftermath of his game-winner, and his pride in his son shone through.
