Dermot O'Leary took on a This Morning newcomer as they slammed Prince William selling The Big Issue as 'virtue signalling.'
At the start of Friday's show, Dermot and Alison were joined by guests in the studio to discuss the big news stories of the day and, aide from talking about the shock news that Sue Barker is quitting BBC's Wimbledon coverage after 30 years, the subject of Prince William being spotted selling The Big Issue cropped up.
The Duke of Cambridge has made headlines online and in print for his charity gesture but, making her This Morning debut, Natalie Pike poured scorn on it, reacting: "I'm afraid to say, this is a little bit of virtue signalling from Prince William. You know, it was an exclusive on The Sun today; I'm sorry but the Royal Family do do a lot of good charity work, but there's always going to be comparisons to Princess Diana isn't there?

"And I've just checked out right now and what Princess Diana did, she used to go out undercover in the middle of the night and put coats in bins for homeless people and I just think that's the way to do it, rather than going out on the streets, being on the front page of The Sun.
Looking agitated by what Natalie had to say, host Dermot fired back: "It's not his fault he's o the front page of The Sun, like he doesn't make that decision right? This whole thing is that he was shown the ropes by veteran vendor Dave, I saw him interviewed last night."
Natalie further rubbed Dermot up the wrong way by declaring Prince William was only on the streets "for five minutes."
