Dermot O'Leary in This Morning panic as camera blacks out during storm coverage

Dermot O'Leary was left both alarmed and slightly annoyed when a camera blacked out during live storm coverage on Friday's This Morning.

As the UKfelt the impact of Storm Eunice on Friday morning, with some parts of the North East seeing snow and wintry showers and southern areas experiencing gale force winds of up to 80mph, Dermot and co-host Alison Hammond started the ITV show with mention of the extreme weather.

A number of red warnings are in place for the rest of the day and, after previewing what else was coming up on the final This Morning of the week, Dermot and Alison crossed to on location reporters in various locations, including Glasgow and Wiltshire, where Alice Beer joined them.

Alice told them the area was expecting winds of up to 90mph in the coming hours, with the former Watchdog presenter saying: "One minute you're standing calm and the next you're virtually moved off your feet."

She added that all schools in the area were closed and that "nobody was taking any risks."

Once Alice had finished her segment, the camera cut to live scenes from Clevedon and then Perranporth in Cornwall and, after Alison remarked: "Oh that looks terrible. The storm's coming," the screen went black and a shocked Dermot reacted: "Can we make sure that Cornwall is OK?

"I feel terrible that that just went black immediately."

Alison invited viewers to send in storm pictures and videos from their area, but advised them to stay safe and "take them from indoors," as Dermot added: "Don't be a hero for us!"

The camera black out came a day after Dermot was forced to step in and correct This Morning studio guest Nicola Thorp as she remarked that the Queen was recovering from Covid.

Dermot interrupted: "Just one correction. I think you said The Queen had Covid. Obviously Prince Charles had Covid."

A flustered Nicola responded: "Sorry!" adding: "Of course, Prince Charles had Covid!" before Dermot told her: "It's OK, no big deal."
