Dermot Kennedy has said it feels "surreal" that he'll be headlining Electric Picnic.
The Dubliner will be the main event of Friday night at the Stradbally festival in September after the official lineup was revealed on Thursday morning.
Immediately after the announcement, Dermot tweeted:
"It feels surreal to announce that I’ll be headlining Electric Picnic this year. I first played EP 7 years ago, to about 20 people sitting in front of the stage at 2 in the afternoon. And I almost didn’t make my set cause they wouldn’t let me into the Artist car park in my old Ford.
"The people working there didn’t believe I was actually playing cause I just rocked up with my guitar in the passenger seat!! So you know it’s gonna be special, I’ve waited and waited for my turn, 70,000 people this time. Thank you!!!"
Kennedy attracted a massive crowd the last time the festival was ran.
He was the last act on the Friday evening main stage set before Hozier, with thousands of people singing along with the then-rising stars hit.
Since then, he's become a global sensation, and will now take to the stage in Stradbally as a headliner himself.
