Dermot Kennedy has 'chills' as he releases new album Sonder - 'a long time coming'

Dermot Kennedy said he had 'chills' after releasing his new album saying - 'It's a long time coming'.

The Irish singing sensation, 30, dropped his second album, Sonder, on Friday including his hit singles Something To Someone and Kiss Me.

Announcing its release as the clock struck midnight after its drop, the Dubliner said: “It is now just past midnight back in Dublin, which means that, for some of you, 'Sonder' is already out.

“I hope more than anything that you see yourself and your story in this album. The thought of you guys listening to this album for the first time actually gives me chills.”

The Giants hitmaker, who touched down in New York as the album was released to fans on Friday, said it has been ‘a long time coming’.

“This album has been made all over the world for the last few years,” he added.

“Countless late nights and early mornings.

“I’ve been in good places, I’ve been in bad. I’ve felt a range of emotions that I cannot describe putting this project together.

“I can’t express how much all of this means to me. And I hope it means a lot to you too. Thank you for allowing me to do what I love every day.

“Thank you for filling up rooms, big and small, all across the world. Thank you for your undying support throughout this journey. Thank you.”

The singer, who kicked off his career busking on Dublin’s streets, added: “Sonder — the realisation that each passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own. My second studio album is out now everywhere.”

Dermot has become one of the biggest and fastest selling live artists ever following his historic run of Irish shows in 2022 - with eight huge concerts across Ireland, including a headline slot at Electric Picnic.

The Better Days hitmaker said that now he finds himself having to ‘check himself’ to take stock of everything he has achieved so far.
