Dermot Kennedy pens emotional post on landing 'dream' USA tour venue

Irish singer Dermot Kennedy has penned an emotional post on his early career days after landing a gig at one of America's most iconic concert venues.

The Dublin star informed his followers that he will be playing in Colorado's legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre, something he thought wasn't possible on his first visa to the USA.

He said: "I remember about five years ago, I was outside the American embassy in Dublin, nervously waiting to go in to my appointment for my first artist's Visa."

The Something to Someone artist revealed that a requirement for the visa was to write down a "touring plan" for the next five years, to show why you deserve it.

"I remember my manager had written down Red Rocks as a venue we'd play sometime in the distant future.

"And it was the only venue on that whole list that made me laugh and think 'yea probably not. This is just to make the application look good'" he said.

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre opened in June 1941 and has hosted world-renowned musicians such as The Beatles, B.B King, Willie Nelson, Jimi Hendrix and many more.

Dermot kicks off his Sonder Tour, named after his latest album, on March 2 in Leipzig, Germany, which will run until July 9 in a sell-out third night in Thomond Park, Limerick.

"Tickets are on sale for my 3rd Red Rocks on May 16th. Even the dumbest, most far fetched dreams are coming true.

"I thank you so much for that," the 31-year-old singer said to his fans.
