If you have a good hair-washing routine, but your hair is looking greasy quicker than you'd like it to, there may be other reasons why.
From your brush being dirty to wearing your head up on top of your head, an expert has shared some of the things you should try to not do if you want to avoid your freshly washed hair looking 'gross'.
Dr Lindsey, who posts on TikTok as @dermguru, is a board-certified dermatologist who regularly shares her skincare and haircare tips with those who are looking to change their routines for the better.
And according to the pro there's one product that could be making your hair greasy - hair oil.
You may think that it's a good idea to put oils on your scalp to make your hair look glossier and healthier, but Dr Lindsey has warned against it, as it can make your hair look greasy, when in fact, it's freshly washed.
She said: "Hair oils are fine at the ends of your hair, but if it transfers to your scalp it can look super greasy.
"If you do use something like this, you have to be extra cautious and not let it get anywhere near your scalp."
Other things she warned could be making your hair look greasy were hairbrushes, and putting your hair up at night time.
She said the "most common" reason is not washing your hairbrush often enough, as if you brush your freshly washed hair with a brush filled with debris, oils, and bacteria, your hair will instantly have everything transferred onto it, giving a "greasy look."
And if you wear your hair up at night, in a wrap scarf or similar, it could be making your hair greasier as it "concentrates all of the oil directly into your scalp", and then the oil has nowhere to go, so it goes onto the scalp.
"No wonder my hair be greasy", someone joked in the comments.
Another said that scalp oiling was a trend, but Dr Lindsey debunked it by writing: "Scalp oiling is trendy, no real evidence to support it."
Someone fumed: "Wait, I sleep in a silk bonnet so my hair doesn't get damaged but now it's causing it to be greasy?"
