Derek McInnes in Celtic admission as Kilmarnock boss admits 'you cannot kid players on'

Upfront Derek McInnes believes it would be foolish to play down the might of Premiership champions Celtic but insists ANYBODY can be defeated.

The Kilmarnock boss is putting the final touches to his preparation for his side's clash at Rugby Park against Ange Postecoglou 's side, and is pulling no punches about the task awaiting his team. He heaped praise on the Australian for assembling a squad packed with players peaking at the same time after soaring to league glory last season.

But the 51-year-old isn't waving the white flag, speaking to BBC Sportsound, he said: "You cannot kid players on, the players know the strength of Celtic, they know the capabilities of the Celtic players. What we've got to do is take strength from our work, our preparation throughout the week, trying to drag big performances out of individual players, I think substitutions will be important as well. It's really trying to reach a level of performance that gives us a chance.

"With Celtic, they've accumulated a squad, in the last year or so, I think they've got a lot of players at the right age, they are developing and you can see the improvement in them. And I think they've got the manager that can get that improvement in them and they are a side who I think are going the right way.

"For us, we've just got to try and find ways to win. Every team can be beaten and we believe we can get a result. We start 0-0 and do all we can to get something from the game. We've got to try and back ourselves at home, of course. Getting the balance between attack and defence is always key against the Old Firm."
