Derek McInnes Hibs talks as Easter Road club weigh up Kilmarnock boss

Hibs chiefs are reportedly do discuss Derek McInnes as a potential manager candidate.

The Hibees are still on the hint for a new boss after sacking Shaun Maloney.

Owner Ron Gordon vowed they would take their time to get the appointment right this time, and they've interviewed various people.

McInnes isn't one of them, but club officials are to hold talks on whether they should approach him, according to the Daily Record.

It remains to be seen whether he would even want to leave Kilmarnock after winning promotion and being promised the biggest budget in their history.

The 50-year-old has been installed as the bookies' favourite for the vacancy.

Gordon is set to discuss his merits with son Ian, who is head of recruitment, and CEO Ben Kensell.

The US businessman was at Easter Road on Saturday to see them draw 1-1 with Aberdeen as he prepares to step up his efforts to land a replacement for Maloney.

Other names in the frame include Michael Appleton, Malky Mackay and Philip Cocu.

Roy Keane was previously favourite but was reportedly put off due to the transfer committee in place at the club.
