Law enforcement officials carry out an operation in Ibarra

A deputy constable in Texas was ambushed and allegedly shot by a robbery suspect following a police pursuit in Harris County on Friday, as confirmed by Mark Herman, Harris County Constable for Precinct 4.

The deputy constable, identified as Deteryon Fontonet, was transported to a local hospital after the incident. Herman took to social media to request prayers for Deputy Fontonet's recovery.

The suspect, who remains unidentified, was apprehended following the incident. The pursuit began after the suspect reportedly robbed two Academy stores in Harris County using an AR-15 rifle. Fontonet, recognizing the suspect's vehicle, initiated the pursuit.

The chase culminated in the suspect firing upon Fontonet in the 5300 block of Slashwood Lane in Spring before seeking refuge in a nearby home. Law enforcement officers successfully surrounded the residence and apprehended the suspect.

The swift actions of the deputies led to the arrest of the suspect, bringing a resolution to the dangerous situation. The community is urged to keep Deputy Deteryon Fontonet in their thoughts and prayers as he recovers from this harrowing ordeal.
