Depop shopper fumes as order arrives in a Covid test box - but seller defends choice

We're all encouraged to shop more sustainably these days, and that can include buying pre-loved items from retailers such as Depop, Vinted, and eBay.

When you order something online second-hand, you'll probably expect it to be packaged in a padded envelope or something similar, so one woman was left dumbfounded when her order from Depop came in a used Covid test box.

The customer, who ordered an item of clothing off the second-hand fashion site, couldn't believe their eyes at the seller's choice of packaging as it had previously contained Covid test equipment. But it had been given a new lease of life as a garment holder, as the piece of clothing was stuffed inside the box.

They dubbed the blunder "dangerous", alluding to the fact that Covid tests are usually taken when someone has symptoms.

The blue and yellow striped garment was stuffed inside the narrow box, but the seller's attempt at being resourceful didn't sit well with the customer at all.

After receiving their order, the raging customer reached out to the seller to express their concerns.

They said: "Why did you send it in a Covid box that's very dangerous."

However, the seller didn't see the issue and mocked the customer.

They replied: "Sorry I forgot cardboard can catch Covid."

Depop shoppers were left in hysterics at the bizarre exchange, with some mocking the shopper.

One customer said: "Carboard-19."

Another wrote: "Just supporting the nurses."

"It's called recycle and reuse babe," said another customer.

Someone else said: "Actually a kind of brilliant idea. The boxes are strong, it doesn't waste cardboard and the post person might deliver it quicker, thinking it's actual needed tests."

A Depopper was baffled though, writing: "To be fair, what the f*** why."
