Departments helped builder without license build 90 flats: RTI forum

AP United Forum for RTI Campaign (APUFRC) president N. Satyanarayana has alleged that the laxity of officials of various government departments helped a 'builder' without a license take up construction of an apartment building with 90 flats in the city.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Satyanarayana along with general secretary V. Satyaranayana said that a recent RTI response from the VMC revealed that the builder on whose name the building permit was issued did not possess the required educational qualification as mandated by AP Building Rules, 2017.

Mr. Satyanarayana alleged that the name of the builder in question, a woman, was used by her husband who also did not have the required qualification to get the license. With the building permit issued by VMC, other departments like Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), Registrations department and banks also issued documents and loans required without verifying the facts, he alleged.

He asked the officials of VMC and other departments concerned to act immediately and said APUFRC would move the High Court.

"They [APUFRC representatives] are yet to submit a written representation on the issue. We will act accordingly on any shortcomings in issuing the building permit and other related procedures once we are approached formally," an official of the town planning wing in VMC said when contacted.
