Denver Nuggets first-round pick DaRon Holmes II recently underwent surgery to repair a torn right Achilles tendon, as confirmed by the team on Monday. The injury occurred during the Nuggets' summer league game against the LA Clippers, where Holmes scored 11 points in 26 minutes before being sidelined.

Due to the severity of the injury, it is anticipated that Holmes will likely miss the entirety of the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season. Recovery from a torn Achilles tendon can be a lengthy process, often taking up to a year for a full return to play.

The Nuggets had high hopes for Holmes, having traded up to select him with the 22nd overall pick in the recent draft. The 21-year-old forward had a standout junior season at Dayton, averaging an impressive 20.4 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

Updates on Holmes' recovery progress and eventual return to the court will be provided by the team in the coming months. The Nuggets had envisioned Holmes as a valuable addition to their roster, potentially contributing as a backup big man in the regular-season rotation.
