Denver's first-round draft pick, DaRon Holmes II, is facing a setback in his rookie season after suffering a torn right Achilles tendon during the Nuggets' NBA Summer League debut. The injury occurred in a game against the Los Angeles Clippers, where the 6-foot-10 center-forward showcased his skills with 11 points and seven rebounds in 26 minutes of play.

Holmes, who was acquired by Denver in a trade after being selected as the 22nd overall pick by Phoenix, was a standout player in college. As a junior at Dayton, he earned recognition as the co-player of the year in the Atlantic 10 Conference. His impressive season included averaging 20.4 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

The news of Holmes' injury was first reported by The Athletic and has since been confirmed by various media outlets. Unfortunately, the talented young player is now expected to miss the entire upcoming season as he focuses on recovering from this significant setback.

This injury is a blow not only to Holmes but also to the Denver Nuggets, who had high hopes for his contributions to the team. The road to recovery from an Achilles injury can be long and challenging, requiring patience and dedication to rehabilitation.

Despite this setback, Holmes remains a promising prospect for the Nuggets, and the team will undoubtedly provide him with the support and resources needed to make a full recovery. Fans will have to wait patiently to see him back on the court, but the hope is that he will return stronger and more determined than ever.
