A dentist in Denver, who is accused of killing his wife by poisoning her protein shakes, is now facing additional charges for allegedly attempting to solicit a fellow jail inmate to kill a detective involved in the murder investigation.
Last week, prosecutors filed two new charges against the dentist, including solicitation to commit murder and solicitation to commit perjury. While the charging document did not specify the intended victim, it was confirmed that the target was an Aurora police detective.
The dentist's lawyer withdrew from the case due to a professional conflict just as the trial for first-degree murder was about to begin. The trial has been postponed indefinitely, and the accused, who has pleaded not guilty, is set to appear in court with a new lawyer on December 16.
The victim, Angela Craig, died in March 2023 from poisoning by cyanide and tetrahydrozoline, a substance found in over-the-counter eye drops. The couple, who had been married for 23 years and had six children, had a tumultuous history leading up to the tragic incident.
Further allegations against the dentist include smuggling a letter out of jail to fabricate evidence and attempting to manipulate other inmates into framing his wife for her own death. Prosecutors claim that he even went as far as trying to recruit women to testify falsely about having affairs with him to shift blame away from himself.
The case has garnered significant media attention due to the bizarre and complex nature of the accusations against the dentist. The trial proceedings are expected to be closely monitored as new developments unfold in this shocking murder case.
