A heated exchange between Dennis Schröder and Germany coach Gordie Herbert started making the rounds on Sunday. In the video, it appeared the Raptors guard took offense to his coach putting his hands on him.
During a timeout against Slovenia in the 2023 FIBA World Cup group stage on Sunday, Germany was down 16–11 and Schröder was talking to a teammate when Herbert screamed, “Hey, let’s go! F---! Sit down!” Herbert was talking to Schröder and pushed him toward the bench to sit.
Schröder told Herbert to “chill out” and his coach responded with, “You don’t tell me what do do.”
“You’re not going to touch me like that,” Schröder said. “You’re not going to touch me like that.”
The Team Germany guard stayed standing up, refusing to sit. It was an ugly sequence off the court, but the team still came away with the big 100–71 win. Schröder finished with 24 points and 10 assists in just 25 minutes of action.
