Dennis Cirkin pushing all the way to Wembley

Sunderland face Wycombe Wanderers in the League One play-off final at Wembley on Saturday May 21 with the Black Cats looking to end their four year stay in the third tier of English football. Left-back, Dennis Cirkin took to social media to send a message to Sunderland fans ahead of the game.

The defender has featured 34 times in League One since moving to the Stadium of Light in August 2021. He wrote on his Instagram: "Wembley bound, one last push."

Cirkin had no senior appearances to his name before arriving at the club from Tottenham Hotspur. He has impressed in his first senior season though as whilst he was forced to miss seven games after sustaining a groin injury, he completed 90 minutes in 14 consecutive games in the second half of the season.

He was unavailable for the final three games of the League One season but returned to the starting line-up for the play-off semi-finals. Cirkin completed 90 minutes in both legs, playing on the left of a back three, as the Black Cats defeated Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 on aggregate to progress to the showpiece final at Wembley.
