Denmark U21 star reveals Liverpool 'dream' after incredible start to season

Danish forward Casper Tengstedt has admitted he dreams of a move to Liverpool in the future.

The 22-year-old, who came through the ranks at FC Midtjylland, has enjoyed a brilliant start to life with Rosenborg. The striker joined the Norwegian side in August and has hit the ground running with eight goals and four assists in seven Eliteserien appearances.

Such performances have courted interest from the Denmark senior team. He is yet to pick up a senior cap, but while away on international duty with the under-21s, Tengstedt revealed his ultimate goal is to play for the Reds.

Why Liverpool forward Diogo Jota asked to be substituted during Portugal defeat to Spain

“My dream is to one day play at Liverpool,” Tengstedt told TV 2 SPORT . “Of course, you have to be allowed to dream. But otherwise, I don’t have a career plan that says I want to go to Spain or Germany. I have not. I try to take it as it comes. I try to follow my gut feeling, just like when Rosenborg approached.”

The 6ft forward was the centre of attention from the moment he arrived in Norway, and his stature within the Eliteserien has only increased alongside an outstanding run of form. But while the young striker admits he was surprised to see so much attention on his move, he is clearly taking it in his stride.

“It was a crazy feeling. I thought ‘hang on, that was a bit surprising’,” Tengstedt explained. “It was perhaps not what you had expected, although it was of course positive. I just had to look at myself in the mirror one more time to see if it was good enough.

“When I came to Rosenborg, there were journalists waiting when you arrived, and I wasn’t used to that at Horsens. Both before and after the matches, there is also a greater focus on you, so it has been a bit of an upheaval, but I think it has been positive and it has gone well so far.”
