Denmark's Group D World Cup permutations as Leeds United's Rasmus Kristensen looks to progress

Denmark must beat Australia in their final Group D game on Wednesday to stand any chance of progressing to the knockout stages of the 2022 World Cup.

Leeds United right-back Rasmus Kristensen has started both of their opening games, as Denmark served up a goalless draw against Tunisia, and succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against reigning champions France.

So far, The Red and Whites have failed to replicate their Euro 2020 heroics (which saw them reach the semi-finals), and run the risk of being eliminated at the group stage for only the second time in their history.

A draw or a defeat against the Socceroos will spell the end of Denmark's tournament. A win, however, will put them through, unless Tunisia spark a surprise by beating France in the other game.

If that is the case, then goal difference would decide between Denmark and Tunisia, who both sit on one point, and with exactly the same goal difference heading into the final game.

If they remain on the same points and goal difference by full-time, then the team who has scored the most goals in the tournament will qualify for the Round of 16.

France secured their place in the next round with their win over Denmark in the last match, while Australia currently occupy the runners-up spot courtesy of their 1-0 win over Tunisia.
