Denmark confirm Chido Obi-Martin latest in 'next step' for Manchester United youngster

Denmark Under-18s manager Morten Eksen has confirmed they are in constant contact with Manchester United to manage the development of Chido Obi-Martin.

The 16-year-old striker moved to Old Trafford in the summer, after his contract with Arsenal expired, and he has continued where he left off in north London, scoring a hat-trick in just his second appearance for the club’s Under-18s side.

Obi-Martin was called up to the national team in previous international breaks, and will play for them again in the next week, and Eksen has suggested he may play his first 90 minutes of the season.

“He has not yet played 90 minutes [for United Under-18s], but he is close, and we are in close cooperation with United in relation to having all his physical data sent over, and looking at how he has played.”

“He wants to be able to go 90 minutes now. That’s his next step and he might do it for us in the next few games.”

The young striker will be hoping to soon join fellow Danes, Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund, in the senior squad at both club and international level.
