Denise Welch came over all nostalgic as she named the shops she would like to see make a comeback in Newcastle - and revealed which one she misses most of all.
The Tynemouth-born star, 64, reminisced about her childhood on Tyneside as she chatted with her fellow Loose Women stars about shops that have since disappeared from the high street. Earlier this week, a 3D virtual tour of old favourite Woolworths went viral for offering shoppers the chance to relive the 90s by virtually stepping inside a store filled with VHS videos, CDs, Tamagotchi and Beanie Babies.
But Denise was gutted that Woolworths wasn't making a real comeback after all 800 UK stores closed in 2009. "Woolworths is the shop that I miss the most," she admitted to her Loose Women co-stars on Wednesday's episode of the ITV show. "Woolworths and C&A. It's just so nostalgic."

She went on: "I used to go to the ABC Minors, which is where all the kids used to go on a Saturday morning, and I used to have to ask somebody to help me across the road - I mean, when you think how times have changed. I would be able to take my sister - I was nine, and she was six - and we were allowed to go for 20 minutes around Woolies until mum and dad came.
"It was that first feeling of independence that we got," Denise said. "I would love Woolworths to come back."
Fellow panellists Jane Moore, Kelly Holmes and Katie Piper were quick to chime in with their own Woolworths memories as they recalled visiting their nearest store to buy records, CDs and pick 'n' mix. Woolworths nostalgia led to mentions of other haunts including the likes of Littlewoods and Chelsea Girl, and Denise shared her former favourite spot in Newcastle.
"I remember the Green Shield Stamps shop," she recalled. "You used to get stamps for things, and my mum would let me save them up and I would go to the Green Shield Stamps shop in Newgate Street in Newcastle and you could choose what you wanted."
