Denise Welch denies 'feud' with I'm A Celebrity's Charlene White over Matt Hancock

Denise Welch has hit out at reports of a feud between herself and Loose Women co-star Charlene White over her time with Matt Hancock in the I'm A Celebrity jungle.

Denise appeared to hint she wasn't too happy at seeing Charlene get on with the former health secretary, but has since clarified that she knows "how tricky it is to be that environment".

When the Tory MP entered the jungle Charlene, a former ITV News presenter, quizzed him on why he's taking part in the show, particularly while parliament is still sitting, and later challenged him over breaking the Covid guidance his own Government set during the pandemic.

However recent episodes have seen the pair team up after Mr Hancock became camp leader, thanks to a public vote, and he appointed Charlene as his deputy.

On Sunday, Denise retweeted a video of herself acting on TV, breaking down and crying, with a Twitter user writing alongside it: "Denise Welch seeing Charlene and Matt being besties."

The Coronation Street and Waterloo Road actor wrote when retweeting the post: "Brilliant and true!!! [four angry and sweary face emojis]"

A follower then commented: "Ahh but will you tell her exactly what you think when she's out & back on LW?"

Denise responded: "What do you think??"

Following this interaction, reports circulated of a feud between Denise and her co-star, which the Hollyoaks actress has now shut down on Twitter.

She wrote: "Charlene is my friend and I’m excited for her. I despise Wancock but they have to live with him."

Sharing an article which said Charlene was 'fuming', the Loose Women star said: "Stop twisting things!! I haven’t watched the last 2 nights. I love Charlene and I know how tricky it is to be in that environment. I responded to a jokey video of me screaming!!"

In a recent episode, Matt was questioned by campmates over his handling of the pandemic. Charlene told him her aunt died from Covid in the first wave, and they couldn't visit her in hospital, she had to sit by herself at the funeral and her family couldn't hug each other, because they were following guidance.

She told him, referring to Mr Hancock breaking his own guidance because he "fell in love" with aid Gina Coladangelo, "I get that you fell in love, I understand all of those things, but sorry for a lot of families like mine doesn’t really cut it.”

The pair had to work together when Mr Hancock opted for Charlene to be his deputy as he competed against Mike Tindall to be camp leader, following a public voite.

Following their win, Charlene couldn't resist getting in a dig about Mr Hancock's failed attempt to be Conservative Party leader.

She asked him: “Does this win feel sweet, especially after you lost to Boris? Do you feel like you have been vindicated?”

Mr Hancock replied that the victory "more than makes up for it", to which Charlene said: "“I’m super, super proud of Matt for winning one leadership contest.”
