Denise Welch branded 'hypocrite' by Loose Women fans after Royal Family rant

Loose Women star Denise Welch is under fire from fans over her comments about King Charles and Camilla during Monday's lunchtime show.

The 64-year-old presenter and actor didn't hold back on her views towards the Royal Family and the monarchy ahead of King Charles' official Coronation ceremony to the throne in May.

"The monarchy is not the same since the queen died," Denise said as she explained she has "no enthusiasm" for the historical event which will see King Charles crowned King following his mother's death, the late Queen Elizabeth, last September.

During Monday’s instalment of the daytime programme, hosts Brenda Edwards, Linda Robson, Jane Moore and Denise addressed their opinions over the upcoming celebrations.

Denise told ITV viewers they were free to "fill their boots" but made it abundantly clear she would not be joining in as she gushed over her love instead for Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, admitting she "wasn't particularly a Camilla fan."

"They [Harry and Meghan] have faired badly from the royals," she added.

"I am not particularly a Camilla fan. She was there from the beginning and it's disrespectful to Harry and.. I just... I can't get over she [Camilla] was the side piece."

But viewers of the chat show weren't impressed with her comments, which comes as she had been expected to attend the palace later next month.

One person wrote: "@loosewomen Why is Denise Welch even considering going to Buckingham Palace when she is so against the royal family as she just stated on Loose Women for everyone to hear!

"Come on Buckingham Palace cancel her as she shouldn’t be there for whatever reason she is going anyway!"

"Why is Denise going to the Palace if she doesn't support the Monarchy? Hypocrite!," penned another viewer whilst someone else added: "Hope Denise is not aloud (sic) in palace spiteful person .she so innocent."

Another fumed: "So Denise doesn’t support the Kings Coronation and is critical of the Royal family but is apparently attending the Palace…soon….double standards there."

However, others were in support of Denise. Someone added: "Denise Welch speaking truth on Loose Women."

Another wrote: ""Go on girl!". A third commented: "Denise Welch isn't wrong."

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
