Denise Van Outen reveals row with Emmerdale's Sheree Murphy that ended their friendship

Denise Van Outen opened up about how a big argument with her former close friend Sheree Murphy put an end to their friendship.

The star, 47, and the Emmerdale star were once incredibly close pals but things took a turn when Denise chose a man over her friend.

In her new book, A Bit Of Me, she shared the details of what happened between the two.

The presenter became close with the soap star, 46, when they were in their late teens.

They were both aspiring stars and became close when Denise dated a DJ called Darren who was friends with Sheree's brother. They even ended up moving in together when Denise was 17.

However, at one point, the two teens went out clubbing and Denise chose to go back to Darren's house rather than Sheree's.

Denise said: "This story saddens me a bit because Sheree and I were good friends, and I suppose it was my relationship with Darren and the way it came about that came between us for a long time."

"When I arrived at the house, Sheree's mum Heather opened the door, not looking terribly happy."

The soap star didn't want to see her after she abandoned her.

Sheree's mother explained that it was wrong to go out with a girlfriend but go off with a boy 'and leave her'.

"It's one of those things that, as a mum, I now understand entirely," Denise said.

"But back then, I was a teenage girl, determined to follow the party wherever it went."

Denise, who has one child, ended up moving in with Darren but things didn't work out with her former pal.

"Sheree and I were never close after that, which made me sad," she explains.

It comes as Denise opened up about her split with ex-partner Eddie Boxshall.

The pair decided to go their separate ways last year, amid rumours that fiancé Eddie had been messaging other women.

Both of them have since moved on from their romance, but Denise will document the split in her new biography.

Whilst she insists she is doing good now, she admits it was very tough in the early days, as she tried to cope with what he had allegedly done.
