Introducing bold prints into the home is a fantastic way to brighten up a space, and there is perhaps no pattern more iconic (and statement-making) than animal print.
While it is certainly a daring pattern to style, learning how to decorate with animal print only requires some inspiration from those who have been courageous enough to use it in their homes; most recently, actor and reality TV star Denise Richards has provided an example with her stair runner.
The Wild Things star recently shared a snap of her showstopping runner, and the warm colors of the fabric pair perfectly with her natural, wood stairs and ochre-painted walls. The runner is the focal point, but it also coordinates well with the existing elements of the stairwell, proving that animal print is a trend worth trying.

More is definitely more when it comes to pattern this season – we're seeing all kind of motifs being given the catwalk treatment, but none more so than leopard print on armchairs. This piece is ideal for injecting personality into a space, and can enliven even the most featureless room.
Don't be afraid to introduce animal print to your home. A rug is the simplest and more effective way to add color, pattern and texture to a space with minimal effort. The trick to decorating with animal print is to remember that less is more. Going for an outgoing leopard print design? Then, balance it with plenty of neutrals for a sophisticated look.
Designed by Sarah Sherman Samuel, the mastermind behind Mandy Moore's recent remodel, this design pillow is a must-have accessory for your sofa or daybed. The gold-ochre colorway is the color of the moment – and I believe it will be an eternal favorite.
According to experts, animal print is one of the top interior design trends of 2025, with classic pieces such as leopard rugs as well as motifs taking over interiors.
'Leopard print made a splash in fashion last year, and now it’s creeping into our homes,' says Chloe Barrow, interior expert at Laura James. 'In 2025, we’ll see bold animal prints adorning statement pieces like cushions, curtains, and even wallpaper.'
She continues, 'To keep this trend sophisticated, focus on mixing prints with subtle textures and neutral tones. A leopard-print armchair paired with a natural jute rug or velvet sofa adds an eclectic yet balanced feel to a room. Accessories like animal-print lampshades or ottomans can also make a bold statement without overwhelming the space.'
A stairwell in particular is a great place to incorporate animal print, like Denise, as wood or stone naturally complement this pattern. Add a brown animal print to wood for a Denise-approved look, or a cool, grey leopard print to stone steps for a lighter look.
With industry expert approval, animal print is definitely something we are curious to experiment with this year.
