One of the few bright spots for the 2023 Tennessee Titans has been defensive lineman Denico Autry, who is in the midst of a career year in his third season in Nashville.
Autry, who consistently makes plays every single week, tallied two more sacks in Week 15 to bring him to 11, marking the first double-digit sack campaign of his career.
While there were a lot of mistakes made by former general manager Jon Robinson, Autry certainly hasn’t been one of them. In fact, he’s one of the best free-agent acquisitions in franchise history.
However, Autry is set to hit free agency in 2024 and will certainly draw plenty of interest on the open market.
Normally, a rebuilding team like the Titans re-signing a player who will turn 34 next July would be radioactive, but as the former undrafted free agent has done his entire career, Autry is breaking the mold on that thought process as he continues to age like a fine wine.
Of course, it takes two to tango and Autry would have to want to be back in Nashville. As far as that’s concerned, Autry made it clear he’s interested in staying.
“I have no problem being here. It’s just another contract,” Autry said on Wednesday, per Terry McCormick of Titan Insider.
“It’s a good fit for me and I like it here, so that’s what it is,” he added, per Paul Kuharsky.
The price and length of the deal will obviously play a part in the decision-making, but the Titans absolutely should want Autry back in 2024.
