Former MP and senior BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri is fighting what is one of the most interesting poll battles in Delhi. Pitched against chief minister Atishi and All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba in Kalkaji, Bidhuri insists people are fed up with the AAP government.
But why is the BJP promising to continue all of AAP’s schemes? In a conversation with Sreenivasan Jain, Bidhuri points to “going back on a promise”. From the water and power bills to the Nal Se Jal Yojana.
The BJP has targeted the AAP over corruption charges. But what about the allegations of “washing machine politics” against the party, and leaders with a tainted past being inducted into the party? “Those are corruption allegations when they are proved. Like how Kejriwal went to jail. There was an investigation. He will be called corrupt.”
Bidhuri has also been in the headlines for making bigoted remarks and inflammatory speeches. But he refused to comment over his statement on former MP Danish Ali. On his objectionable remarks targeting the parentage of AAP's Atishi, he outright denied it. “I never said any such thing,” he claimed.
