A vacant shop in Caerphilly town centre is set to be demolished to make way for a new boutique hotel.
The former Specsavers building, located on Cardiff Road, will begin to be knocked down during the next few weeks before work starts on the hotel.
Demolition contractors are already on site preparing the internal work required for the full demolition of the building. A temporary road closure has been instigated on part of Park Lane.

There will also be a temporary removal of the one-way traffic order to facilitate residents and businesses to access and exit from Park Lane.
The road closure and traffic arrangements are due to be installed and effective from Tuesday, March 8, and are planned to be in place until Tuesday, April 5.
The work comes as part of plans worth over £50 million to transform Caerphilly town centre.

The main elements of the Caerphilly 2035 programme include:

- A major £15 million mixed retail and residential development
- The creation of a new ‘Boutique’ hotel development at Park lane
