Donald Trump Jr. recently made a statement suggesting that his father, former President Trump, would be in danger if Democrats had succeeded in removing Secret Service protection from him. This claim stems from a bill introduced by House Democrats earlier this year that aimed to strip Secret Service protection from convicted felons sentenced to prison.

The bill, introduced by Rep. Bennie Thompson, specifically targeted former President Trump, who has been convicted of multiple felony counts. Titled the 'Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable (DISGRACED) Former Protectees Act,' the proposed legislation sought to automatically revoke Secret Service protection for individuals convicted of certain felonies.

In response to Trump Jr.'s statement, Rep. Thompson clarified that the bill was not intended to impact the Secret Service's presence during any specific events but rather to address the protocol when a protectee is sentenced to prison and in the custody of another law enforcement agency.

Following an incident where former President Trump was reportedly shot, Rep. Thompson condemned political violence and emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order in American democracy. He expressed relief that the former President was safe and extended his thoughts and prayers to all those involved.
