A Democratic Board of Review Commissioner, aged 45, is facing a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol following a drunken driving incident in Chicago. The official, Samantha Steele, was discovered lying on the ground near two damaged vehicles around 8:50 p.m. on a Sunday, as per a police report.
Upon investigation, an open bottle of red wine was found in Steele's vehicle, and officers noted her bloodshot and glassy eyes, along with the smell of alcohol on her breath. Despite admitting to causing the collision, Steele reportedly declined to undergo sobriety tests and requested her lawyer when questioned about her alcohol consumption.
During her arrest, Steele made inappropriate and offensive comments towards an officer, repeatedly asking about the size of his genitals. Following complaints of head injuries, she was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical examination, where she sought legal representation from a fellow member of the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
However, the lawyer referred her to another legal representative as he was not specialized in criminal law. Steele's court date has been scheduled for December 27, and she could not be reached for immediate comment on the matter.
