Demi Moore has opened up the shocking ordeal she suffered as a teenager, revealing the man who raped her at 15 paid her mum afterwards.
The actress, 56, claims her mother Virginia King, who was an alcoholic, started taking her out to bars to get attention from men when she was very young.
One night a man who had a key to their house got inside and raped her , before handing her mum £400 ($500), she said.
Afterwards the man asked her: "How does it feel to be wh***d out for $500?'
Demi was talking about her assault on Good Morning America on Monday, which she details in her new memoir Inside Out.
"It was rape and a devastating betrayal," she says in the book.
When asked by host Diane Sawyer if she thought her mum had sold her to the man for sex, she said she wasn't sure.
Demi explained: "I think in my deep heart, no. I don't think it was a straight forward transaction but she still did give him the access and put me in harm's way."
She left home at 16 and her mum died in 1998.
Her book will span from her difficult childhood to her high-flying Hollywood career.
It will also give an inside look at her high-profile marriages to actors Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher as well as raising her three daughters.
Demi expressed penning the memoirs made her feel "very vulnerable" as she shared the intimate details about her life.
However, the American actress explained writing the book was something she wanted to do to "rediscover" herself.
"It’s exciting, and yet I feel very vulnerable,” she told The New York Times .
"I had to figure out why to do this, because my own success didn’t drive me. It’s more of an awakening than a comeback."
