Demi Moore, documentarian Frederick Wiseman and Billy Zane are set to headline The American Pavilion at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. The trio will participate in separate sessions of the In Conversation series, alongside five American Filmmakers competing in the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight and Critics Week programs.
The Industry in Focus segment will feature discussions with industry professionals covering a wide array of topics such as opportunities in Ukrainian films, international films in the U.S. marketplace, documentaries, sales, finance, marketing, public relations, film festivals, distribution, and shorts.
The festival, scheduled from May 15-23, will offer a daily schedule of over 25 panels, conversations, and screenings at the Roger Ebert Conference Center, open to all AmPav members.
The American Pavilion, now under Penske Media Corporation, will host a diverse lineup of artists and executives sharing insights on the film industry. The House Party summit on May 19 and 20 will focus on new voices and global diversity in filmmaking, featuring panels on social impact film finance, purpose-driven filmmaking, and more.
Additionally, the Emerging Filmmaker Showcase will present 36 official selection films across various categories, including student short films, documentaries, LGBTQ+ films, and an alumni showcase.
Notable sessions include discussions on film publicity, marketing strategies, development to production processes, international film distribution, and the state of documentaries in the marketplace. The festival will also highlight the role of film festivals in the indie film ecosystem.
Special events like Queer Night, showcasing LGBTQ+ talent, and the unveiling of 'The Glassworker,' Pakistan’s first 2D Hand Drawn Feature, will add to the festival's diverse offerings.
The American Pavilion aims to provide a platform for industry professionals to engage in meaningful conversations, share expertise, and celebrate the art of filmmaking at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
