DeMar DeRozan wants to retire with Bulls: ‘A place I want to be’

For the past two years, the Chicago Bulls have been attempting to build up the Big 3 of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic. And while they’ve only won a single playoff game with that group, the Bulls still remain committed to winning, snagging win-now pieces to put around their three All-Star-caliber players.

DeRozan has been the most impressive of the bunch simply due to the number of people who believed the contract Chicago handed him was a bad idea. However, he’s reemerged as a perennial All-Star talent, making the game in each of the past two seasons, helping lead the way for Chicago.

And after just two seasons with the Bulls, DeRozan wants to retire with the team. He told Mark Medina of Sportskeeda as much during a recent interview. (H/t Paul Kasabian of Bleacher Report)

“That’s a place I want to be and end my career,” DeRozan said. “I want to be able to accomplish everything I’ve set out to accomplish. That’s all I can worry about and control. I have the utmost confidence in myself. I’ll let my agent and the organization deal with that side of things, to be honest man. From their standpoint, they want me to be there long-term and vice versa. We’ll see what happens from there.”

Some fans thought the Bulls would be better off hitting the reset button this summer, but instead, they made win-now moves, and DeRozan is set to help them compete for a playoff spot again.

He’ll be heading into the final year of his contract with Chicago, but from the sounds of it, he’d like to re-up sometime soon.
