DeMar DeRozan named finalist for NBA’s Clutch Player of the Year

If there’s one thing Bulls All-Star DeMar DeRozan is known for it’s his ability to come up big in the clutch.

On Friday, the NBA announced the finalists for the NBA Awards, which includes the inaugural Kia Clutch Player of the Year award.

DeRozan was named one of three finalists, alongside Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox and Miami’s Jimmy Butler, who showcased more of a clutch gene in Friday’s play-in victory over DeRozan and the Bulls.

For the NBA, ‘clutch games’ are considered when the game has five minutes remaining with the score being within five points or less.

On the season, DeRozan averaged the fifth-most points in the clutch at 4.7 points per clutch situation.

A player like DeRozan who has an old-school knack of scoring in the mid-range and continuously getting to the free throw line, his game was built for the clutch.
