DeMar DeRozan has heaps of praise for Coby White after Bulls win over Pelicans: ‘He was special tonight’

This Chicago Bulls season has been a disaster. Based on their expectations heading into the year, the Bulls have failed. And they have failed to the point where they are the first teams most people bring up in trade rumors, with Zach LaVine’s name taking the lead in that category.

However, amidst all the struggles the Bulls have dealt with this season, Coby White has been emerging. After taking a massive step back in the rotation last year, White is playing roughly 10 more minutes a night and has improved in nearly every statistical category year over year. The 23-year-old guard is finally coming into his own.

“Amazing,” DeRozan said. “He’s ultra aggressive, ultra confident, decisive. He was big. Coby was Coby tonight. We fed off his energy. We don’t get this win without it. He was special tonight.

“He definitely wanted to be the player he showed he is tonight,” DeRozan said. “His drive, his work ethic is amazing. He always wants to figure out how he can be better, how he can help. You see it.”

DeRozan’s praise came after White dropped 31 points, nine rebounds, and six assists in a win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

It’s still looking like the Bulls will reset the roster by the trade deadline, but at least White is giving them some signs of life.
