Delivery driver who killed girl, 3, by reversing over her will not face charges

A delivery driver who killed a three-year-old girl when he “accidentally” reversed over her will not face criminal charges.

Milliee-Ann Rae Mckellar was hit by a reversing Mercedes Sprinter coming out of Campion Close in Calne, Wiltshire on March 3 2021.

However, more than a year late, Wiltshire Police have confirmed that the driver will not face charges following a thorough investigation.

Milliee-Ann, who had a sister called Rico, was a daughter to Tanzin Wells and Mike McKellar.

Following the tragic accident, Wells' cousin Tara Elizabeth launched a fundraiser in order to raise money for the family.

She said Milliee-Ann was "a happy, cheeky, kind little girl who will be missed dearly", in quotes reported by Yahoo News.

Among the tributes to Milliee-Ann was a unique one from Chris Wooldridge of nearby Fluffy Puffin ice cream, who launched a new flavour in memory of the toddler to raise money for a memorial near her home.

"We have two daughters aged five and three, and cannot imagine what the family must be going through," he said. "We wanted to do something, so we asked the family what Milliee-Ann's favourite ice cream would be.

"They said she liked all the syrups, so we came up with a ripple ice cream with blue berries and crushed mini eggs."

Wiltshire Police said that they had handed a file to the crown Prosecution service but that no further access will be taken.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "An investigation into the circumstances of a collision in Calne in which a three-year-old girl sadly died has now concluded.

"The collision happened in Campion Close, on March 3, 2021.

"The young girl was in collision with a Mercedes Sprinter van and tragically died at the scene.

"A thorough investigation led by specialist officers has been conducted and a file was sent to the Crown Prosecution Service who concluded that no further action will be taken against the driver of the van involved.

"The parents of the young girl have been informed and our thoughts remain with them at this time."
