Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat shut down in parts of UK as Storm Eunice hits

Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat have all stopped allowing customers to place takeaway orders in some parts of the UK due to Storm Eunice.

It is being dubbed the “worst storm in 30 years” with record-breaking winds of 122mph ripping through the UK and red “danger to life” warnings in place across the south of England and London.

There had been red weather warnings in place across the west of England and much of Wales earlier today.

Brits are being told to stay at home as a result, prompting the three major takeaway apps to temporarily shut down service until Storm Eunice passes.

Deliveroo says its service is currently not available in London and the South East or Wales and areas of the South West.

A spokesperson said: "We will continue to monitor the situation and remain in close contact with our partners and riders to let them know when we plan to reopen these areas."

A message on the Deliveroo app reads: "We'll be back delivering again when it is safe to do so."

It adds: "In the interest of keeping riders safe, our service is not available at the moment due to a red weather warning."

Uber Eats hasn’t confirmed exactly which areas it has stopped service, but a message on its app reads: "For courier safety, our delivery service is currently unavailable due to a weather alert."

Just Eat has responded to some people on Twitter, saying it too has paused delivery services in all affected areas being hit by Storm Eunice.

The delivery giant tweeted: "We immediately stopped delivery services in all affected areas this morning. We will not restart services until it is safe to do so."

Just Eat confirmed the update to The Mirror, saying: "Courier safety is our number one priority and we have suspended our delivery services in all areas with red weather warnings."

It isn't clear when Deliveroo, Uber Eats or Just Eat will be fully back up and running but it isn't likely to be until later today at the earliest.

If you've lost power because of Storm Eunice today, we've rounded up your compensation rights and how you can get help.

Your electricity supplier typically has 24 hours to restore your connection.

However, in cases of extreme storms, this deadline can be increased to 48 hours as energy companies are given more time to repair any damage.

We've also explained if your car insurance is still valid if you drive during a storm.

The good news is, your car insurance should cover you - but that doesn't mean you should be on the roads in the first place.

People are being told to stay home if they can, so it is safer to avoid using your vehicle if you can right now.

While you should be covered on the whole, you car insurance claim could technically be pulled into question if your provider can prove "contributory negligence" on your part.

For example, if you drove into a swollen ford where there was a warning in place and your car stalled and was ruined by water, your claim might not be paid.
