Deliveroo's 'most unusual' takeaways Liverpool foodies need to know about

When it comes to choosing a well-earned treat, you can't beat a takeaway.

Whether you are enjoying date night at home with your partner, a family night in, celebrating a special occasion or simply just fancy taking a night off from cooking, there are plenty of great takeaways to choose from in Liverpool.

The on-demand food delivery service, Deliveroo, has revealed some of the more unusual takeaway dishes available in the city - perfect for those who want to try something different. All of the dishes can be ordered from independent Liverpool restaurants.

James Jones, Deliveroo city manager for Liverpool, said: "Over the last five years, we've been proud to offer customers a wide selection of over 850 different restaurants to order on Deliveroo.

"That being said, there are still plenty of hidden gems on our app or website waiting to be discovered by Scousers. To help you get started, we've handpicked some of our Deliveroo favourites - from restaurants who've created unusual and wacky dishes to others who simply serve tasty and authentic food."

'Karen Burger' - Yard and Coop, £13.95

Yard and Coop offers a delicious selection of American-themed burgers for Deliveroo customers to take their pick from. The Hanover Street-based restaurant has a burger called the 'Karen Burger' - a buttermilk chicken burger that has been 'specifically made for all Karens.'

The burger consists of tender buttermilk fried chicken thigh on toasted brioche, topped with crispy bacon, luxury slaw, lettuce, tomato, Dr Pepper BBQ sauce and creamy mayo. The burger is served with skin on fries.

There is a wide range of meat-free options on the menu at Yard and Coop too. Those looking for a vegan option can go for the 'Karen's Gone Vegan' burger.

Krispy Kreme Smash Burger - Big Buns, £9.95

If you love burgers and have a sweet tooth, then this offering from city centre eatery Big Buns might be right up your street. Big Buns has created the ultimate combination in the form of the Krispy Kreme Smash Burger, which is half burger and half doughnut.

The burger is made up of freshly crafted fresh Angus beef patties, layered with two slices of cheese on a toasted Krispy Kreme doughnut topped with fried onions, ketchup and mustard. The burger is served with Belgian skin on rustic chips.

The Gangsta - Doza, £4.49

Doza on Erskine Street offers a wide range of dishes to choose from, including savoury doughnuts and fresh pizza - all served up alongside a delicious mix of sides, homemade sauces and drinks.

For those who want to try something different for lunch, Deliveroo recommends 'The Gangsta', which is made up of layers of smoked ham, cheddar cheese and English mustard served inside a hot, crispy savoury doughnut. The delicious offering is available for £4.49.

Disco Cauliflower - Maray, £7.50

Maray specialises in Middle Eastern mezze, with an array of small plates to choose from. The popular restaurant has three branches in Liverpool - on Bold Street, Allerton Road and at the Royal Albert Dock.

One of Deliveroo's favourite dishes includes Maray's 'Disco Cauliflower'. The cauliflower is coated in a combination of handpicked harissa, tahini, chermoula, almonds, pomegranate seeds, parsley and paprika.
