Deliveroo is offering Londoners the chance to order paddling pools and water slides as the sun threatens to come out in a largely bleak summer.
The service, best known for its takeaways, is taking orders - while stocks last - from Saturday in the capital and also in Bristol, Brighton, Cambridge and Manchester.
Making an order might be a recipe for a black cloud emerging, but those willing to brave it will be sent the summer items from Deliveroo Hop - a “delivery-only grocery store”.
The pools will cost £9.99 and the slides £12.99.
Aisha Jefferson at Deliveroo said: “With the temperature finally on the rise and a much-needed bank holiday weekend on the horizon, we’ve spotted increased searches across the app for summer-themed products such as ice cream, BBQ essentials, and suncream.
“As a result, we’re catering to growing consumer demand for summer items by adding paddling pools and water slides, available to order from Deliveroo HOP.”
“The newly launched paddling pools and water slides are perfect for paddling, splashing and sliding, keeping kids (and adults!) entertained at home in the warmer weather and the upcoming three-day weekend,” she added.
Orders from HOP can be made through the standard Deliveroo app or online. Deliveroo is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2023 and launched the HOP service in September 2021.
Ms Jefferson added: “No matter the British weather, we want to help locals dive into the bank holiday weekend at the click of a button, without leaving the house.
“Customers can also discover a wide range of picky bits and BBQ essentials perfect for picnics, days out with friends and parties in the garden.”
The participating HOP stores in London are Vauxhall, New Oxford Street, Norbury, White City, and Hoxton.
There is free delivery on orders of more than £20.
