Newcastle United fans are over the moon after their Champions League return was confirmed despite a frustrating draw with Leicester City. The Magpies will face off with Europe's elite for the first time in two decades after a goalless stalemate with the Foxes on Monday night.
Eddie Howe was forced into a late reshuffle, with Joelinton initially named in the team before withdrawing due to a muscle injury sustained in the warm-up. Elliot Anderson was promoted to the starting eleven, with Harrison Ashby taking the vacant spot on the bench.
Newcastle dominated possession from the outset, but were unable to break the deadlock before the break despite a succession of late chances. Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson both saw efforts rebound off the post, with the striker also seeing his follow-up effort headed off the line.

James Maddison was introduced at the interval for the visitors, but the pattern of play remained as Newcastle pushed in vain for an opening goal. Bruno Guimaraes could not find the net from a close-range header, while Alexander Isak and Sean Longstaff were both denied by Daniel Iversen.
However, the Magpies still had to call upon Nick Pope in added time as he reacted quickly to deny Leicester's only shot on target of the contest through Timothy Castagne. Here is how Newcastle fans reacted to the 0-0 draw at St James' Park on Monday night.
